About Dun Gård

Dun Gård is located on the island of Jøa in Namsos. We who run the farm do so out of love for animals and soil, the nature around us, and all the lovely people who drop by. Those who visit us are guests in the restaurant, members of the community supported agriculture (CSA) on the farm, are here on work placements and courses, or buy meat, herbs and vegetables - and care about where the food they eat comes from. Our goal is to produce food of the very best quality, and for animals and people to be well. We have cattle breeds that are known for good fat marbling and extra good flavour. The animals go outside freely when they want to, and when they are not on pasture, they get only roughage produced on the farm. We grow many different varieties of vegetables and potatoes, herbs and other edible plants, and get eggs from the Icelandic hens that roam freely in the woods by the stream. We care about living soil, and have chosen to grow organically, without chemicals or artificial fertiliser. In addition to the market garden and sales from the farm, Dun Andelslandbruk is based on the farm. In the summer of 2023 we opened "Matgarasjen", the restaurant that has made it possible for us to bring the good produce from the farm to the table. The farm shop is self-service and open around the clock. We also have concerts, exhibitions, talks, and various courses in cooking or agriculture-related topics. On a little farmyard all of its own lies Grandma's house in the countryside, surrounded by fields, mountains and beautiful cultural landscape. Here there are 8 beds spread across four rooms, and a well-equipped kitchen where you can make your own food. Dun Feriehus can be rented through AirBNB.
