Valbjør, (from vallr-falk) Valabjør - Falcon Mountain, is a very old farm rich in tradition in Vågå, 700 metres above sea level on the "sunny side" of Vågåvatnet. It is first mentioned in a parchment letter from 1280, but a burial mound on the farm bears witness to settlement going back to the 800s-900s. Possibly the same family has held the farm right from this time, and it has an exciting and interesting history. Today there are 13 old buildings in the farmyard. All are authentically restored and made ready for letting. The oldest building, Gammelloftet, is from about 1600. Today the main production is goat's milk, and early in the 80s the farm was converted to organic farming. The farm shop is self-service, open every day between 10.00-20.00, selling among other things our own cured sausage made from goat, our own cheese, Fjell-geit, a white-mould cheese/brie that has won international awards, as well as other assorted goods and local handicrafts. With us you will find a beautiful farm complex where a guided tour can be arranged. We offer accommodation in Vetlestugu from 1738, Nordrestugu from the 1700s, Aasheimstugu from 1850 and other "sleeping lofts" with access to bathroom and toilet. In total we can offer 27 beds. Otherwise the farm lies centrally in an excellent walking area in a protected cultural landscape close to untouched mountain areas.
