Myrdal gård lies 250 metres above sea level on the beautiful island of Tysnes, in Vestland county. It is a 10-minute drive from the ferry quay in Våge. We make various types of cheese with and without spices from milk bought in Vestlandet. This high-quality Norwegian produce is the basis for fantastic cheese. In the farm shop we sell food from our own farm and as many local ingredients as possible. Jasper and Nynke van Schaik took over the farm when they moved here from the Netherlands in 2013. They combine the famous Dutch cheese tradition with exquisite local ingredients. Myrdal Gård has a small cheese dairy where various cheeses are produced from both cow's and goat's milk. Enthusiastic cheese lovers in the cheese dairy make sure the ingredients are of the very finest quality and are handled under the strictest hygiene requirements. The cheeses are matured at the perfect temperature and humidity to bring out their full flavour potential. The various Myrdal cheeses have won several medals at the World Championships in recent years. Myrdal cheese is sold in selected grocery shops and speciality shops throughout Norway. The shop sells the award-winning cheese, ice cream, yoghurt, various baked goods, stone-oven baked pizza with ingredients and medal-winning cheese from the farm and much more local food. You can eat in the cosy barn restaurant next to the pizza oven, in the sunny garden room with a view of the Tysnes mountains, outside on the terrace on the comfortable lounge sofa or at a picnic table in the middle of the slope. The atmosphere is informal and friendly with a focus on a good mood and good food. From Myrdal Gård the sherpa path starts up to the highest mountain on Tysnes: Tysnes Såto 753 metres above sea level. It takes about 2 hours to the top and Myrdal Gårdsbutikk is a good start to the walk, an even better resting place after the walk, but also a good place to sit and watch those who set off. The farm shop opens during the Easter holidays and is open at weekends in May and June. During the Norwegian summer holidays it is open 5 days a week.
