Gardsbrenneriet – from Western Norway soil to fine drops Jørnbruket – a farm with long traditions Jørnbruket is part of the large old farm of Hauge, with traces of settlement going all the way back to the early Iron Age. Fruit has been grown here since the 1800s, and since the 1930s plant propagation and vegetable growing have been part of the operation. The good fjord climate gives excellent growing conditions for fruit, berries and vegetables, and we even have our own apple variety - Haugeeplet. Måneskinshagen – organic growing and cultural heritage Today we grow organic apples and rhubarb at Jørnbruket. We look after the cultural heritage by focusing on historical varieties, and we graft apple trees and raise rhubarb plants ourselves. We also grow other crops for use in our drinks – among them dill for our summer aquavit. In the spring we have organic plant propagation with more than 100 different varieties of vegetables and herbs. We place particular emphasis on old heritage varieties that are well adapted to the fjord climate. Two places to visit Gardsbrenneriet and Måneskinshagen – Øvre Nordstranda 96 On the farm you will find a fruit and berry pressing house, a cidery and a distillery. Here we also process surplus raw materials such as fruit for pressing, plums, whey and potatoes – and give them new life as fine drops. In the summer season you can book a guided tour of the farm and learn more about the history, the raw materials and the production. From the middle of April to the middle of June we have a self-service shop selling organic vegetable and herb plants by the entrance road down to the farm. Nordfjord Distillery – Industrivegen 12 Here you will find our modern bottling plant and a factory shop open all year round. In the factory shop you can buy local food and our alcohol-free and low-alcohol products. In the spring we offer organic seeds for growing, and in the autumn you will find equipment and raw materials for processing fruit and vegetables. Here you can also book a guided tour and tasting in Gildehallen – our Nordfjord Distillery bar.
