About Hjortegården Gamkinn
Animal welfare is very important to us, and the animals roam freely within a large area where the calves are also born in early summer. The production has a small climate footprint and they graze on our own pastures. In winter we feed hay from our own production and from neighbours. We also use some supplementary feed in the form of residues from the beer production at Færder Mikrobryggeri AS in Tønsberg. The meat is produced without the use of antibiotics and is of the very finest quality. In addition to developing the farm, we have focused on laying out a garden with lovely seating and a view of grazing red deer close by. The garden is being upgraded and developed continuously and is planted with, among other things, beech hedges, honeysuckle, rhododendron, lavender, hosta and yew. It also has exposed bedrock of the distinctive local lava rock, rhomb porphyry.
