Many of our products are low-temperature pasteurised and non-homogenised and therefore retain more of the original good flavour. The company was founded in 2001 and is today Norway's largest fully organic dairy, with nationwide distribution. Several of the products carry the «Beskyttede betegnelser» (protected designations) label, which is both a recognition of the product's quality and origin and a protection of the unique production methods and the local raw materials. This official labelling scheme documents the connection between place, raw material, recipe and tradition. These products have been valued by generations and are important to preserve as part of Norway's food heritage. Rørosmeieriet is also a dairy for experiences, and our premises in Sollihagaen at Røros are ready to receive visitors on guided tours with experiences and activity. Here you can see, try, smell and taste. We look forward to showing you how the products are made, telling you about our history and teaching dairy craft. Here we offer simple refreshments in the form of tjukkmjølk (traditional soured milk) waffles, apple cake, organic soft ice cream and freshly brewed coffee.
