About Øverøyen Gaard Landhandleri
Øverøyen is a farm at Å in Meldal, Trøndelag, with a long history going back to the 1700s. The farm has practised traditional agriculture for generations, with both infield farming and seter (summer mountain farm) farming. A farm chronicle from the period 1927–1976 documents farming methods, life at the seter and the generational changes on the farm – a testimony to how a Trøndelag holding has developed through large parts of the 1900s, from traditional agriculture towards more modern operation. Today eggs and grain are produced on the farm, as well as a few potatoes for local sale. There is also salmon tourism on the Orkla during the summer months. Eivind and Anne Berit are today the 11th generation running Øverøyen Gaard. Øverøyen Gaard Landhandleri Welcome into the old cowshed on the farm! Here you will find a farm shop and an interior shop with a rural and rustic style. From our own production we have eggs and potatoes. From other local producers we have meat from cattle, lamb and pork. Game in season. Seafood from the Trøndelag coast. Local cheeses, honey and drinks. Fresh sourdough baked goods on Fridays (12-18), otherwise frozen baked goods. Spices from Hitra and classic sweets etc. In our gift & interior shop you will find a rich selection of goods, – rustic interior items, decorative objects, napkins and candles, which suit both house & cabin well. Some hides in season and handmade bags, cushions and other textiles from Luggum Design among others. Welcome to the farmyard of our country store!
