About Lega ost og bakst
Ever since Gro started out as a goat farmer in 1989, the dream has been to produce her own cheese. In spring 2009 a cheese dairy was completed on the farm Raundalen. This is where the first cheese was produced. Gro took various courses and visited farmers both in Norway and abroad to learn how to go about producing quality cheese. In summer 2010 a cheese dairy was also built at the støl (summer mountain farm) Nedre Lega. More cheeses gradually went into production. The light, mild brunost (brown cheese) and the well-matured white goat's cheese have won several prizes over the years. In time bakery products were made too, including kling (soft flatbread spread with butter and sugar), mysebrau (whey bread) made with whey from the cheese production, and pizza bases baked on a takke (griddle) like the bread. In 2022 production multiplied many times over and moved to new production premises at Rauland in Vinje municipality. Welcome!
