The married couple Bente and Tore Hommeland took over her old family farm in 2020. Here in this history-rich little village between mighty mountains, we want our three children to grow up at Dirdalstraen Økologiske Gard. In the farm shop, which lies right next to the farm, our visitors get a journey back in time. The premises of the farm shop have been restored and returned to how they looked in 1936. At Dirdal quay, trade has been carried on for generations. This was a hub, and in addition to a shop and petrol station, there have been a post and telegraph office, as well as a bakery and guesthouse in various buildings at the bottom of Dirdal. The farm shop has fittings from the time when groceries were sold over the counter. The meat from our own heritage-breed cattle, of the breed Sidet trønderfe og Nordlandsfe (STN), you will only find here in our farm shop. A large selection of quality cuts that you rarely find in ordinary shops. We also offer meat products from other cattle breeds. Clean, locally sourced meat of high quality from Hereford, Angus and Limousine among others. With us you will also find the exclusive and sought-after wild salmon from Dirdalselva, the Ramnstopølsen sausage named after the neighbouring peak, and sheepskins from our own sheep. We have yarn and knitting kits for the Dirdalsvotten mitten and a wide selection of local and historical products. The shelves are full of carefully selected niche products and organic goods. By shopping locally and buying locally sourced produce, you know where the food comes from and you help keep the villages alive by supporting local small-scale producers. A living rural Norway is important for preserving our history, culture and traditions. Together we can raise awareness of a clean and natural diet, thriving agriculture and the care of the old cultural landscape. Accommodation: If you would like to spend a few days in our beautiful village, explore nature and enjoy Dirdal's famous sunset, there are three houses for rent not far from the beach. We will help you with tips and advice so that you get memorable days in unique surroundings. Concerts and events: We love to create life and activity in our village, and our premises are perfect for intimate concerts. We organise evenings with entertainment and good food and drink. Travel parties and groups: We are more than happy to receive both busloads of tourists and also local associations and groups who wish to visit us.
