About Beiarmat / Spiskammerset

All our cheeses are made from fresh milk from farms in Beiarn. Shaped and tended by hand. Salted with a mixture of pure mineral salt and locally sourced sea salt from Saltstraumen. We produce both for consumers and for catering kitchens. We mainly use old methods and recipes from our own farm, but we also let ourselves be inspired by the world's cheeses and flavours. We also focus on meat from our own herd, with an emphasis on making the most of the resource found in kid meat. We look after 200-300 kids (young goats) from our own herd, which are raised for slaughter. Together with cheese and dairy ingredients, the meat is the main focus of our overall food concept. We offer guided tours and experiences in the cheese dairy, as well as sales and samples in our shop «Spiskammerset». We can also receive groups wishing to be served lunch or dinner. In the farm shop you can buy handmade foods that are sustainably produced from products from our own and local farms. Fresh and matured cheeses from local goat's and cow's milk, kid meat, mustard, lefse (soft Norwegian flatbread), flatbrød (crisp flatbread) and lumpfish caviar, to mention a few. In addition you will find several products from Salten and the surrounding area, such as flake salt, jams, coffee, berry sauces and stockfish. We also arrange farm visits and can offer accommodation at the seter (summer mountain farm) at Beiarn Lodge. In summer up to 1,000 goats graze on the valley sides. We can offer food and refreshments outdoors with a fire pit or in the «gammel-fjøsen» (the old cowshed) at the seter. Beiardalen perhaps has the world's finest off-piste run for winter sports, shaped by grazing, and magical hiking terrain in both summer and winter. Guiding by appointment with local operators.
