Fruit trees have been planted at the farm Skogheim in Aure since the 1940s. When Bjørn Torsetnes inherited the farm, he and business partner June Vestavik saw the opportunity to develop a unique product based on the farm's old traditions. It then took only a short time from the first tree being planted until «Fjordsider» was established. The two have now planted 9,000 apple trees on the 20 decare property as well as neighbouring additional land. The landscape at Skogheim gård is well suited to fruit growing, and the climate in Nordvestlandet ensures a long ripening period - this gives the apples a good, full flavour. We use the apple varieties Aroma, Gravenstein and Discovery to create the fine flavour of «Fjordsider». The trees are planted and the apples picked by hand, before they are pressed, blended and bottled into our Fjordsider varieties in the new production hall in Aure. We also receive groups by arrangement for cider tasting, talks, tours of the production hall and the orchard. We hold a food serving licence, an alcohol serving licence and an alcohol sales licence.
