About Valmsnes gård
In 2011 we took the plunge and moved from Oslo to the little village of Osen and Valmsnes gård. Step by step, and with a steep learning curve, we have developed the farm into a viable farm with milk production and our own farm cheese dairy. Our passion for animals and for processing milk led us to start our little cheese dairy on the farm. Our interest in traditional Norwegian cheeses, and great demand in the local area, made us decide to invest in the tradition-rich cheese pultost (soft, tangy sour-milk cheese). This is one of Norway's oldest cheeses, and this cheesemaking tradition is one we want to help preserve. In the cowshed live 24 fine dairy cows of the NRF breed. They are the ones that provide the cheesemaking milk for the farm cheese dairy. In 2020 the herd was increased from 8 to 24 dairy cows, and the cowshed was rebuilt from a tie-stall cowshed to a loose housing cowshed with a milking robot. There is a strong focus on animal welfare, and we always work to give the animals the best possible life. Follow us on Facebook to see what baked goods are available.
