About Orkladal Ysteri
Orkladal ysteri is located at Gjølme/Råbygda in Orkland municipality. We have been producing cheese since 2008. We focus mostly on washed-rind cheeses. We make both semi-hard and soft ones. The semi-hard one is called Høvding Sverre and is sold at four different ages. Høvding Sverre Ung is 3-6 months, Høvding Sverre Lagret is 6-12 months, Høvding Sverre XO is 12-24 months, Høvding Sverre XXO is over 2 years. The soft washed-rind cheeses, Rokoll and Skjenald, are dessert cheeses. The blue cheeses are one large, slightly firm one (Gelmin) and a small one that is blue on the outside and white inside (Svoger Bård). We also have a hard cheese with caraway called Søster Cecilia. Over the past year we have also started making frying cheese à la halloumi. The cheeses are sold across the whole country through Matcompaniet, to shops in Trøndelag through Trøndelag Mat and directly from us to restaurants in Trondheim and Orkland.
