In our farm market at Skarstad we focus on food, and we stock it with our own home-grown vegetables in line with the Norwegian vegetable season. In the greenhouses we grow many kinds of tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet peppers, chilli and herbs. The farm market is open in season from about 1 May to about 1 November each year. We also have locally sourced and locally produced products from other small-scale suppliers in our range, such as farm eggs from free-range hens, locally produced sour cream and pultost (soft, tangy sour-milk cheese) from norsk urfé (old native Norwegian cattle), hard and soft cheeses from small, skilled cheese dairies, and juicy sausages and elk patties from local producers, to mention a few. And then we have plenty of good things to drink with the meal! Lovely rhubarb, blueberry, raspberry and apple drinks, among others. In our farm café we serve homemade baked goods and café dishes based on our own produce and goods from the farm market. We have a lovely outdoor seating area on fine summer days, as well as covered seating with heat lamps on slightly cooler days. For the little ones we have a nice playground where they can also say hello to the hens and the rabbits.
