The farm is the home of the poet Olav Aukrust (1883 - 1929). We can offer guided tours of the old farmhouses where he grew up, preferably combined with a tour of the farm. We can place more emphasis on the cultural history side, - or on themes such as herb growing and use, garden history, organic farming and bio-dynamic agriculture. The farm has been run organically / bio-dynamically since 1985. Over time, herb growing and processing have become the speciality. We deliver tea and spices all over the country, - but the largest selection is found in the farm shop. Even though we have given up milk production, we have suckler cows, pigs and hens, - we process the meat into 4 exciting cured sausage varieties with our own spice mixes. Urtehagehuset is a stave-built structure, with covered galleries facing the herb garden and the growing fields. Here we hold various cultural events during the summer season, or offer talks or refreshments.
