A little about us and what we do 😊 Area: About 1600 decares, of which about 450 decares are grass and the rest cereals and protein crops Animal types and numbers: Suckler cows, about 50 calvings a year, 10 winter-fed sheep and about 340 hens. Sales channels: Reko rings, our own farm shop and a few small shops/farm shops. Værby Gård is located at Kana and works with sheep, cattle and cereals. The farm is run by Manuela and Jakob with our small children Ylvie and Josef. Manuela is a trained meat cutter with several years of experience from a slaughterhouse business in Austria. Jakob is a trained agronomist and forestry engineer. We run a diverse farming operation. We are concerned with making use of the resources we have around us and putting them to good use. Most of the feed the animals get we produce ourselves, and in addition the cows get a lot of potato and swede waste that is not suitable for human food. The concentrated feed the animals get consists of barley and field beans that we produce ourselves on the farm. Field beans are a good source of protein that replaces imported soya. In the summer the animals graze on areas around the farm and in the local area. Most of the sheep get a trip to the mountains on good rough grazing in the middle of the summer.
