Kroken Fjordgard is a little smallholding with apple trees and sheep, beautifully situated on the southern side of Lustrafjorden in Indre Sogn. Here we run the farm and invite people into what we are doing – whether it is farm life, events or experiences in nature. The story started with Marte's smallholding dream. She bought the farm in 2020, with a wish to create a life closer to nature and look after the resources that were already here. In 2021 Hansi moved in, and the same year they put their first five-litre container of cider in the old potato cellar in the barn. It was a little experiment, without great expectations. But the experiment was a success and the spark was truly lit. This became the start of a shared passion for the craft of cider making. Since then they have built up the cidery little by little. The old barn from 1935 has been given new life as a cidery, farm shop, tasting room and bar, and today they produce between 3,000 and 5,000 litres of cider a year. We make cider, with a focus on craftsmanship, quality and clean flavours. On the farm we also keep sheep of the gammalnorsk spælsau breed (old Norwegian short-tail sheep). The animals are a natural part of everyday life and contribute both to the cultural landscape and to the operation as a whole. Throughout the year we arrange cider tastings and various gatherings and events on the farm. We hold yoga weekends, running weekends and other events where the nature around the farm is actively used – where movement, nature, good meals and community are at the centre.
