About Hellberg Gård

Hellberg Gård is a smallholding on the northern side of the Frosta peninsula. It has been a family business, and all the children have taken part in the work on the farm. We farm according to organic principles, using as few chemicals as possible, and mostly use green manure. We have a few Grå trøndersau (grey Trøndelag sheep), which are to help us keep the cultural landscape in good order, and which, together with our farm dog, also contribute to the well-being and atmosphere on the farm. Fruit and berries, honey and chocolates are produced, as well as some grain on the farm. Raspberries have been part of the farm since 1918, and are in a way a symbolic product for us, as this was a production that allowed grandfather to keep the farm through the hard 1920s and 1930s. We sell ready-picked raspberries, and offer pick your own raspberries. Frosta frukt- og bærpresseri was established in 2013, and is a significant part of the business, as in addition to our own fruit, we press a great deal for private individuals who want to make juice/cordial from their own garden. It is popular, and many private individuals come with their own fruit and berries. Since then a good number of fruit trees have been planted, with a view to pressing for juice and selling fresh fruit. We process many different kinds of fruit and berries, which we sell from the farm, via REKO and at various markets. Chocolates are produced partly with flavours from the farm's fruit and berry products. Honey production began in 2014, and today we have between 30 and 40 bee colonies. The tourism venture started in 1997 and is a significant part of the farm's operations. 6 rental cabins of a high standard have been built, along with a small boat harbour for our 8 rental boats and some places for local boat owners. There is also an area for a small campsite, with room for about 25 caravan/motorhome/tent pitches with an associated toilet and shower cabin. Boat hire and fishing are among the biggest and most used activities here, but this is also a great starting point for walking, both in Frosta's cultural landscape and in slightly more mountainous terrain. We have both maps and GPS for walkers. Another way to experience Frosta is by bicycle. We have 4 ordinary bicycles and 3 e-bikes for hire. "Mastua" on the farm is, among other things, a pilgrim hostel for those walking St.Olavsleden (Selånger/Sundsvall - Nidaros/Trondheim). In this connection we also offer breakfast and dinner.
