Nedre Røste gård is located in Hjuksebø, 10 km south of Notodden centre. We run organic apple production and conventional sweet cherry production on a total of 65 decares. Unlike many other fruit growers, we cannot boast of a long tradition of fruit growing, since we planted the first trees in 2016. But it looks like we have done a fair bit right, because the trees thrive very well here with us on the sunny slope down towards Heddalsvannet. We focus on quality and expertise in every part of the production, which results in top-class products. Perhaps the trees thrive extra well here because they get to enjoy the same wonderful view as we do? Heddalsvannet is part of Telemarkskanalen, so you can come here by water if you like. Hjuksebø lies midway between the coast and the high mountains, and the area is exceptionally rich in experiences, whether you want to get out into nature, experience the Rjukan-Notodden World Heritage Site or other cultural offerings. We are investing more in cider production in the years ahead and have therefore planted our own apple varieties especially for cider. Our cider is made at low temperatures, which both challenges and develops the aromas in a quite distinctive way. We have an uncompromising goal that all the products we deliver shall give a good experience - always. We of course also have lovely organic apple juice for sale. It is made from the same varieties as the cider - all grown here on the farm. You can also be served the apple juice at local restaurants in the area. We sell sweet cherries and apples in season from about 10 July and through October. We welcome groups for cider tasting by appointment. Our farm shop is open every day except Sunday all year round from 10.00-18.00.
