In Tverrelvdalen, two things have been at the heart of most families; slate quarrying and farming. Those who worked in the slate quarries often had a little smallholding on the side, and that was how our farm came into being too, back in the day. Tor Arne's parents, Tor and Anne Marie, were the first in the family to turn the smallholding into a larger farm operation. Over the years, both dairy cows and pigs have been kept in the cowsheds. In addition, we have been a visitor farm, taken part in «Inn på Tunet» and had handicraft production, largely thanks to a great commitment to communicating and further developing the farm. Today the farm is run by Cecilie and Ove Mannsverk, who took over with a wish to carry on the traditions while also developing the farm further for new generations. With a focus on local food, animal welfare and genuine raw ingredients, we produce, among other things, long-matured beef from our own animals, as well as Arctic strawberries grown far north under the midnight sun. On the farm you will also find a farm shop and café, where we offer our own products and a wide selection of local goods from other producers in Finnmark and Northern Norway. We want to create a warm and pleasant meeting place where people can experience the taste of Arctic agriculture - close to the animals, the soil and the people behind the food. Throughout the year we arrange various activities and seasons on the farm, and we are passionate about showing off what is unique about farming so far north. For us, the farm is not just about food production, but also about creating experiences, community and pride around local food and rural life.
