Øvre Åbål Gård grows many exciting potato varieties! In the 2025 season we will have 10 different eating potato varieties. We love testing the different eating potato varieties with different foods. A potato is not just a potato - Different flavour and texture in the potato can add that little bit extra to a meal! In addition we also have 3 different crisping potato varieties that are delivered to Sørlandschips. Vegetables are both nutritious and tasty! In the 2025 season we grow carrots, beetroot, yellow beetroot, candy-striped beetroot, red onions, yellow onions, swede and parsley root. We grow some of our vegetables on a small scale where much of the work is done by hand, so the selection will vary through the season. We grow various wheat varieties, barley and spelt. We stone-mill this grain at Kornhuset on Øvre Åbål Gård, and make lovely stone-ground wholemeal wheat flour, wholemeal barley flour and wholemeal spelt flour. The grain is gently stone-milled on the stone mill in the good old way to preserve vitamins, minerals and fibre. Freshly milled stone-ground flour has a unique, slightly nutty flavour that gives baked goods that little bit extra. In our farm shop you will find potatoes, vegetables, stone-ground flour and sometimes eggs! The farm shop is self-service, but do get in touch if there is anything. Welcome! We are passionate about increased use of Norwegian food, just think how much good food is grown and made in Norway! Hooray for the farmer!
